This organization is divided into some divisions namely Anti-Corruption Division, the Economic Offences Division, the Administration Division, the Special Crimes Division, the Central Forensic Science Laboratory Division, and the Directorate of Prosecution Division. All these divisions are assigned according to their specialty. This organization has its headquarter located in the CGO Complex, New Delhi.

As we have already told you that CBI is headed by a director. This director is appointed by a committee and this committee derives its powers from the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act 1946. This committee consists of the Prime Minister of India as its Chairperson, leader of opposition in lok sabha, and Chief Justice of India or a Supreme Court Judge recommended by the Chief Justice as its member. The Delhi Special Police Establishment Act 1946 is amended by the Lokpal & Lokayukta Act 2013 and CVC Act, 2003.

How to Join CBI?

Process 1

In this process, you have to give the SSC CGL examination to get recruited in group C and group B post in the agency. The full form of the SSC CGL exam is Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level Examination. This exam is conducted once in a year by the staff selection commission. This examination is mainly for direct recruitment in CBI on the post of Sub Inspector.

So if you want to get direct recruitment then you should go for this exam. After getting recruited as an SI in CBI you may get promotions to reach on higher posts. Step 1

The first step of this process is the SSC CGL exam. You have to appear to write this examination. There are two rounds in the CGL examination. With both the rounds, you will be given some objective type questions and you have to choose the right answer.

In this first round, there is one paper and it will have 100 multiple-choice questions. In the paper, each question carries two marks so it is a total of 200 marks question paper. Through this paper, they test general intelligence and reasoning skills, quantitative aptitude, general awareness, and English comprehension of the candidate.

In the second round, there is a total of 2 papers and both the papers will have a total of 200 questions. The total marks in this paper are 400 with 2 marks for each question. These papers also consist of multiple-choice questions to test various skills in the candidates.

Papers in both rounds are computer-based. These papers also have the negative making of 0.50 Marks for each in the wrong answer. Therefore choose your answers very carefully.

Step 2: 

After giving the examination the candidates will have to give their medical test. Since the job profile of a CBI officer is physically and mentally very demanding so it is a must to check the candidate’s physical and mental fitness. They test the candidates on various physical and mental parameters to make sure they hire only the best ones. So be prepared to give a medical test for the post of SI in CBI. You should also read the notification of the exam carefully to know about their requirements and prepare accordingly.

Step 3: 

Now comes the final step towards becoming an SI in CBI. This step is a personal interview and the candidates who qualify the first two-steps appear for the personal interview. In this final step, a penal will ask you some questions in the interview to make sure you have all those skills that they are looking for. After the candidates who qualify the interview round are sent for training.

Process 2

Now we will talk about the process through which you can get a group A officer post in CBI. In this process first, the candidate has to clear the UPSC exam and become an IPS officer. Because as you know that there is a provision through which IPS officers a recruited in the CBI.

In this process, the IPS officers get highly reputed posts in this agency. Out of both these processes, this is the toughest one as it is not easy to clear the clear UPSC exam to become an IPS officer.
